Four years living without the salt of the ocean have been both good and bad. I’ll take fresh water bodies, clear, vast and beautiful, any day; but the often sinus infections without the salt, don’t make me so much a happy camper.
No matter where you live, near fresh water or not, here are some tips to not get sick at your house.
I have had some practice the last four years, so here as some success tips from my house to yours.
Turmeric is a common spice used in Indian curries and is easy to find at any grocery store (veggie aisle with different types of lettuce/green leaves). It’s main component, curcumin, helps the body fight viruses and bacteria. You can sneak a little turmeric into everything you cook and feed yourself, or your family, so you are all eating it several times a day.
2. Epsom Salt.
Nice to take Epsom Salt baths two or more times a week. If you’re not a bath person, or don’t have a lot of time in your week, take the time to soak at least 1-2 times per week. Epsom Salt, otherwise known as magnesium sulfate, is a natural mineral known to boost white blood cell production; it flushes the lactic acid out of muscles and detoxifies the body. Add a cup of Epsom salt to a hot bath and soak ’til you’re pruney.’ It can be found, inexpensively, at any grocery store or pharmacy.
Garlic has been known for thousands of years to be the elixir of health. Garlic fights toxins and kills bacteria and parasites. Add a clove of minced garlic to your dinners. You can find garlic at an grocery store, or is easy to grow in the garden.
4. Fresh Air & Sunshine.
Sunshine can heal most common ailments. It produces endorphins, increases the number of white blood cells and provides life-giving energy to your organs. Being outside in the fresh air, no matter the season, invigorates and boosts natural defenses. Fresh air and sunshine are readily available simply by going outdoors. And it’s free!
5. I love you.
Say it and hear it, a lot. Mean it. Love is the best cure for anything that ails you. Say, “I love you,” upon waking, before one departs, at bedtime, and anytime you feel like it throughout the day. The genes that control our immune systems are enlivened when we feel loved. Love is the most powerful force in the universe!
Smiling can relieve stress and boost your immune system. Smiling is relaxing, which helps our immune system work more effectively. Smiling helps us to have a positive outlook. Smiling helps us to feel better throughout our lives. And it can be contagious.
