Cinco de Mayo is the best day of the year for drinking margaritas. This year May 5 falls on a Thursday, so you may be more inclined to stay in and just serve up some tasty food and cocktails. Many of the recipes you find for margaritas out there require lots of ingredients and lots of equipment. If chopping up fruit and pureeing things sounds like torture to you, here are five simple margarita recipes that will quench your craving for tequila.
Casa Noble Crystal and Stirrings
- 1-2 ounces Casa Noble Crystal Tequila
- 1-2 ounces Stirrings Simple Margarita Mix
Get a rocks glass and fill with ice. Add tequila (depending on how strong you want it) and the margarita mix. Stir with swizzle stick. You could salt the glass or mix it in a shaker if you want to get fancy. Casa Noble’s Crystal is an organic tequila made in Mexico and has a smooth, dry taste. It pairs nicely with Stirrings’ simple mix of Key Lime juice concentrate, cane sugar and natural flavors. It is a nice departure from the heavily sweetened margarita mixes on the market.
1800 Reposado Tequila and Red Bull Lime
- 1-2 ounces 1800 Reposado Tequila
- 1 can Lime Red Bull
Take a rocks glass or tumbler and fill with ice. Add tequila first and then about 1/2 can of Red Bull Lime. This recipe may be more difficult than the others because Red Bull Lime is currently unavailable. It was very popular and makes a very tasty margarita. Occasionally you can find it on eBay or Amazon. There is a campaign to bring it back and Lime Red Bull even has its own Twitter account. 1800 Reposado is sweet and rich, like most gold tequilas and is the perfect choice for those who like a sweeter cocktail.
- 1 1/2 ounces Milagro Silver Tequila
- 1 can San Pellegrino Aranciata (Orange)
Mimosas don’t have to be reserved for Champagne or Sunday brunch. Add some 100 percent agave blanco tequila and a little orange Pellegrino for a cocktail reminiscent of a tequila sunrise mixed with a mimosa. Just pour the tequila into a Champagne flute and top off with Orange Pellegrino and enjoy.
Sauza-Rita Margaritas For a Crowd
- 1 can Sauza Silver Tequila
- 1 can frozen limeade
- 1 bottle light beer
- 1 can of water
Take a large pitcher and pour in the limeade and the bottle of light beer. Reserve the can. Fill the limeade can with tequila and pour into the pitcher. Repeat the process with the water. Mix well and serve. Repeat recipe as needed.
The easiest way to enjoy a margarita is by simply opening a can. Bud Light has a series of single serve margaritas in a can that are available in strawberry, watermelon, berry, mango, lemonade and of course lime. Just throw a bunch of cans in a tub of ice and you’re ready for game time.
