Need eggs? KJB Farms has cage free eggs, including beautiful pastel blue and green eggs (these are the natural colors of these eggs!).
Currently, Maria’s Unique Foods has the most beautiful, locally made Easter cookies ever. You can also find fresh, homemade whoopie pies, jams, an amazing assortment of colorful, pickled eggs, handcrafted granolas, local honey, local maple syrup and much more. Bellbrook Chocolate Shoppe also has many fine chocolates and cookies for your basket. There are a variety of filled chocolate eggs, chocolate bunnies, chocolate bunny lollipops and even chocolate lamb lollipops! Their decorated shortbread cookies are works of art in themselves. Need gluten-free treats? Purely Sweet has a wonderful variety of Easter treats, created using no refined sugars, no processed flours, and no chemicals – all natural treats for Easter!
If you need great ingredients for salads, Hydrogrowers has fresh strawberries as well as fresh basil, arugula, lettuce, and spinach, along with a wide assortment of other produce, much of it local. Garber Farms has Swiss chard and kale, herbs you can take home for your windowsill or garden bed, and cheerful flats of pansies. Home-baked rolls, cinnamon buns, angel food cakes and pies are just a few of the baked goods for sale at the Garber Farms stand.
Dragon’s Gate Gardens offers locally grown, organic microgreens and other fresh petite greens, dried greens, potted and fresh cut herbs, grasses and herbal teas to the west end of the market on Saturdays. Owners Gil and Paulletta grow their microgreens in organic soil, use no chemicals in the growing process, and will even grow microgreens, specialty greens and herbs to order: if they can get the seed, they will grow it for you.
Animal Snackers Bakery has an ever-rotating selection of over 70 homemade gourmet animal treats. Treats are all natural, with no preservatives or unpronounceable ingredients. They offer a wonderful selection of toys, beautiful pet scarves for spring and tasty cat grass (the cat grass and some of the vegan animal treats are also suitable for bunnies).
Gourmet food items can be found at the Wine Gallery, Azra’s, The Olive Tree, Purely Sweets and many others. The Chef Case has delicious pastel macaroons, perfect for Easter or any springtime get-together.
Take a break for lunch with great food from Arepas, Baan Thai Noi or one of the many other unique food vendors at the 2nd Street Market. Cheeky Meat Pies has a variety of delicious savory pies (see the slideshow photo) including a vegetarian pie; they will also sell you frozen pies ready to pop into your oven at home!
