On Feb. 27, 2016, reps from both The Reel Awards and the Tribute Artists Convention, after three years of “hiatus,” shared the events’ latest success. The events were held at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, Nevada from Feb. 22-25. According to various participants and media reviews they were a huge smash hit!
Past locations for these events have been Hollywood and Palm Springs. The same team of sisters, Janna and Alana Joos, have been producing the awards ceremony for 22 years.
Included at the events are always a variety of activities, talent, producers, talent buyers, and more. Of course it is mainly the sisters’ expertise that has made it possible for The Reel Awards and the Tribute Artists Convention to be successful!
Vegas’ Golden Nugget, located on Fremont Street, is where the last few events were held, and this year was no exception. On the street could be seen many wonderful entertainers, plus paparazzi to boot!
The convention not only offered for tribute artists to perform on stage inside the hotel, but it also allowed the talent, as in previous years, to perform outside on one of the Fremont stages. The entertainers performed in the areas of music, comedy, celeb lookalikes, and more.
The Joos sisters came up with the idea of an awards show for celebrity impersonators and lookalikes.
“The Reel Awards is a way of acknowledging the talents’ professional performances in the entertainment industry, and it also encourages up and coming new talent. This event was originally held in the Blossom Room of the Roosevelt Hotel in the heart of Hollywood. It was a fitting location, as this room was the site of the very first Academy Awards in 1928.” – Janna and Alana Joos
