Well-kept and groomed hands show your personality. Often due to daily chores, strenuous jobs, washing dishes, and cooking, we neglect them, which causes them to become un-groomed, itchy and dry. Visiting a spa or parlor might not be a suitable option for many women with demanding jobs and monetary factors. A nice manicure right at your home can not only save you considerable amount of time and money, it can also give your hands a parlor treated feel. Whether you are just too busy to make an extra stop at the salon or you are just trying to save money, there are a lot of benefits you can enjoy with an at-home salon manicure. You don’t have to go to a professional for a manicure every time; you can follow the 10 steps outlined below and achieve a quality salon manicure at home:
Remove any nail polish: Keep your arms on a flat surface along with your tools as this will eliminate the possibility of smudges and spills. While an acetone-based nail-polish remover can be a bit harsh, but it does get the job done quickly. Regardless of the type of nail-polish remover you use, make sure it has minimum contact with your cuticles because this can dry them out.
Buff, file and clip your nails: If nails, you should clip your nails and file them into shape gently for getting your tips round, square or somewhere in between. The sides and top of your nails need to be buffed lightly with a nail buffer for creating a smooth surface.
Push your cuticles back: Use lotion or oil for softening the cuticles and take a cuticle stick for pushing them back gently. You shouldn’t cut your cuticles because they keep your nails soft and protect your nails from bacteria.
Start on hand exfoliation: Take a hand scrub for exfoliating your wrists, hands and forearms for removing dead skin cells and replenishing your skin’s moisture. Clean under the nails with a nailbrush. Afterwards, you should wash your hands and then dry them thoroughly.
Replenish your hand’s moisture: Time to moisturize your hands for avoiding any smudging later on. This is the time for you to give yourself a hand massage and relax. Use nail polish remover for swiping your nails to complete the process.
Apply the base coat: A base coat should be applied for protecting and hydrating nails and preventing any chipping. Beginning with the base coat, you should wait two minutes between each coat.
Apply the first coat: This is the fun part where you get to apply the newest hue of nail polish. Make sure you get the brush into the corners of the nail and all the way to the cuticle. The second coat becomes easier when you get the maximum coverage in the first coat.
Now for the second coat: Wait for two minutes and then apply the second coat. If you are using a sheer glaze, you may have to get a third coat for complete coverage.
Time for the topcoat: You can add shine to your nails and prevent chipping with the topcoat.
Deal with the rough edges: Take a cotton ball and soak it in nail polish remover and wrap it around the cuticle pen. Go over the edges with the pen for cleaning up wobbly edges and mistakes.
With these steps, you will give yourself a professional salon manicure at home.
